A little fatty and a shot...

Ewan had a heel prick today (his PKU test -- can't remember what that is!). They weighed him. The goal is that a baby is back up to his birth weight by two weeks. For Ewan, that would be 8 pounds 2 ounces. He weighed in at .... 8 pounds 8.5 ounces!!! YAY, way to go Ewan!

Eli also went to the doctor today to get a Hep A shot. I was REALLY worried that he was going to be writhing around and I was going to have to sit on him or something similar to allow the nurse to give him a shot. But I pulled out a bag of M and Ms and put two in his mouth just as she gave him the shot and then he sat there eating the rest of the bag afterwards, saying to himself "That hurt...mmm M and Ms!"

6-month appointment

Eli's 6-month appointment with the doctor was Thursday and we found out his weight: 19.5 pounds! Some friends of mine told me that their kids weighed that at 1 year. Yeah, well, Eli aspires to be a sumo wrestler, OK?!? (Actually he is only in the 75th percentile on weight -- yeah, there are other kids who are fatter!)

Other related stats: His head circumference is 18 centimeters (95th percentile). His length is 28.5 inches (95th percentile).

He got some shots also. He cried a little but then was easily distracted. It was much better than his 2-week shots where he screamed and turned red and wouldn't take a breath.
